The Philoptochos or "friends of the poor" is an organization of women of the parish, primarily dedicated to service to the poor, and to the enrichment of parish life.   

The Annunciation Chapter of Philoptochos supports the following Charities:

  • The Annual Vasilopita – all proceeds go to Saint Basil’s Academy
  • St. Photios Shrine
  • Orthodox Christian Mission Center
  • Hellenic College/Holy Cross School of Theology
  • International Orthodox Christian Charities
  • Hellenic College/Holy Cross School of Theology Scholarships
  • Ecumenical Patriarchate
  • Children’s Medical Fund
  • Retired Clergy Association’s Benevolent Fund
  • Cancer Fund
  • Cardiac Fund
  • Social Services
  • Tampa Metropolitan Ministries
  • Assistance to families in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina
  • Project Mexico
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Children's Charities of Tampa

    • In addition to its philanthropic endeavors, the society generously supports parish capital projects and provides numerous fellowship opportunities through social events:
